About the Artist

Unassuming, unfussy, and understated - both the art and the artist. I work from my small, home-based studio in San Francisco. Mostly self-taught, I am inspired by food, flora, landscapes and humans. My work can be described as simplified, stylized and generally embodying a feeling calmness - perhaps in response to balancing much of life outside my studio which holds so much suffering, injustice and anxiety. My most recent work is primarily in acrylics, but I jump into other mediums to rest my brain, regroup and experiment. These include watercolor, cut paper, fabric and thread.

Though I have loved the visual arts from the age of 10, born the first child of conservative, immigrant parents (you’ve heard this story before), I graduated from Va Tech with a bachelor’s degree in business.

I worked in the corporate world for twelve years, which eventually landed me in California. A place I dreamed of living in since I was a child. Never having lost touch with my creativity, I started my own creative business as a graphic designer the same year my first son was born, 2005. Wanting to feel closer and more personally connected to the artwork I was creating, I began painting in watercolor, incorporating my original art into my graphic design work.

I love the work of San Francisco’s own Richard Diebenkorn. His figures, landscapes and sketchbook work are an endless source of inspiration and joy.

My work has earned me a finalist position in Martha Stewart’s American Made contest, a mention by Megan Markle in People magazine, as well as mentions on PopSugar and StyleMePretty.

I also have work that is exclusively available on minted.

I live in San Francisco with my husband, two teenage sons, and studio canine, Josephine. We might seen walking the Land’s End trail, at Stern Grove while running the pup, or biking around.

The Stationery + Paper Goods Business

I have a small boxed card textile collection labeled Fig & Tulip. Letterpress cards are printed on gorgeous, thick 100% cotton paper. Flat print cards and envelopes use paper with at least some recycled content and some are also printed on 100% cotton. All Fig & Tulip products are designed by me and most are printed in the San Francisco Bay Area.
